1. What the messaging program is

The Lavatory rents luxury restroom, shower, laundry, and freezer trailers to customers across the United States. Text messaging is used to support an active or upcoming rental, and for nothing else.

Messages are two-way conversations between the customer and the sales or dispatch representative assigned to their rental. Messages cover:

  • Delivery and pickup scheduling and arrival windows
  • Service and pumping visit confirmations
  • Site access details, gate codes, and placement instructions
  • Questions about how to operate a unit while it is on site
  • Invoice and account questions relating to that rental

This program does not send promotional offers, discounts, advertisements, or any other marketing content. It does not send messages to anyone who is not an active or prospective rental customer who has given verbal consent.

2. How consent is obtained

Consent is verbal, and it is obtained by a live representative during a phone call. There is no automated dialer and no purchased list.

A customer reaches a representative in one of two ways. Either the customer calls our published business number to ask about a rental, or the customer submits a quote request on our website and a representative calls the number the customer provided. In both cases the conversation happens first and the consent request happens inside that conversation.

Before any text message is sent, the representative reads the disclosure in section 3 and asks the customer to answer yes or no. Nothing is sent unless the customer answers yes.

3. The disclosure our representatives read

Every representative reads the following aloud, in full, before requesting consent. It is part of our onboarding and is available to every representative in their call scripts.

Representative

“As part of your rental with The Lavatory, we can send you text messages at this number about your delivery and pickup times, your service visits, and any questions you have while the unit is on site. You would be texting directly with me or your dispatch coordinator, so you can reply to any message and we will answer.

You can expect around two to ten messages per month while your rental is active, and more only if you are the one messaging us. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. You can reply HELP at any time to get help, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Our Terms of Service are at thelavatory.com/terms-of-service and our Privacy Policy is at thelavatory.com/privacy-policy.

Would you like us to text you about your rental? Please answer yes or no.”

Customer

“Yes.”

Representative

“Thank you. I am going to send a confirmation text to this number right now so you have my line saved.”

If the customer answers no, the representative records the refusal and no text message is ever sent to that number. The customer continues to be served by phone and email.

4. Confirmation message

Immediately after a customer says yes, this is the first message sent to the number. It restates the program, the frequency, the rates disclaimer, and the HELP and STOP instructions in writing.

The Lavatory: You are confirmed for rental updates and support texts at this number. Approx 2-10 msgs/month while your rental is active. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Terms: thelavatory.com/terms-of-service Privacy: thelavatory.com/privacy-policy

5. Message frequency

Roughly two to ten messages per month while a rental is active, driven by the events in that rental such as a delivery, a service visit, or a pickup. Volume goes up only when the customer is the one starting the conversation, because every reply from us is a response to them. Once a rental ends, messaging stops.

6. Standard disclaimers, HELP, and STOP

Keyword What happens
HELP The customer receives: “The Lavatory customer support. Call us at (866) 528-1642 or email [email protected]. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”
STOP The customer is removed from all messaging immediately and receives: “You have been unsubscribed from The Lavatory messages. No further texts will be sent. Call (866) 528-1642 if you need us.”
START A customer who previously opted out can rejoin by replying START, which re-sends the confirmation message in section 4.

Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

7. How consent is recorded

When a customer says yes, the representative logs it in our customer record system against that customer and that phone number. The record includes the date and time of the call, the representative who obtained consent, and the phone number consented. Refusals and later opt-outs are recorded the same way, and an opted-out number is blocked from any future send.

8. Privacy

Phone numbers collected for this program are used only to communicate with the customer about their rental. We do not sell, rent, or share mobile numbers or consent records with third parties for their own marketing. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
