Why The Lavatory

Trusted across Oakland for ADA-compliant restroom trailer rentals with a ramp built in

Each ramp is part of the trailer, so it arrives and sets up together with it and there are no separate pieces to track down. Nobody hires a carpenter or builds a plank walkway the day before your event, and nobody hunts for a rented ramp that turns out to be too short. The Lavatory has spent about a decade placing accessible trailers on East Bay sites, from lawns at Lake Merritt to school lots in West Oakland, and the first thing we check is the ground where your guests will walk. Tell us your date and the lawn or lot you have in mind, and we will say plainly which trailer fits. Call us or request a free quote with your date and the lawn or lot you are considering in Oakland, and we will schedule the trailer that fits that ground.

What you get when you rent an ADA trailer from us

A site check before delivery

You send photos of the access road, the flat spot and the nearest outlet. Once we see your photos, we will tell you whether the trailer fits the flat spot and where the ramp comes down.

Supplies already inside

We stock paper, soap and towels ahead of time, so guests find everything ready when the door opens. On a job that lasts several days, we come back to restock on a schedule we set with you.

One team from quote to pickup

The person who quotes your job knows the site details. Your questions on event day go to the same team, not a call center.

Honest advice on size

If a smaller trailer fits your guest count, we say so. We would rather earn the next job than oversell this one.

Plain answers on power

Each trailer uses two standard 120 V 20 A circuits. If your site has no outlet nearby, we talk through the options before you book.

Hill and street placement

Oakland has tight hill roads and closed street blocks, and we plan the trailer path from your photos before it leaves. That check is free and comes with the quote.

Big names that rent from us, and the Oakland jobs we plan for

Repeat business is the best proof we have, because the accessible room we send has grab bars, room to turn a wheelchair and the same finish as the rest of the order. Google, Tesla and the Golden State Warriors rent from us, and the same team places ADA trailers at Lake Merritt weddings and Oakland school projects.

Fan events

Around Oakland we regularly work with school and city project teams, wedding couples and planners, as well as festival and church organizers.

Church groups and neighborhood festival organizers who book again do so because the upkeep never slips. Nobody notices an accessible room until it is missing, so every unit we send to an Oakland job has to be clean, stocked and easy to reach on each day of the event.

Inside the trailer

The ADA restroom and shower trailer lineup for Oakland

For Oakland sites, the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer suits a backyard or a church lot, and the ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer suits a big festival block or a school campus.

ADA trailer staged outside Oakland

Our accessible lineup runs from the Single-Station ADA Shower and Restroom Combo up to the seven-room ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer, with an ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer and an ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer in between. Each one has a self-contained ramp. You pick by head count and by what the site needs, not by catalog number.

Church gatherings and backyard weddings across Oakland usually fit the smaller of our two restroom trailers. It has a women’s room, a men’s room and an ADA unisex room, draws on two 120 V 20 A circuits and carries 210 gallons of fresh water and 300 gallons of waste capacity. That size works for a church gathering of up to about 200 guests or a job site of up to about 30 crew.

A closed Oakland street block for a festival or a busy school campus needs the ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer, which gives you four men’s rooms, two women’s rooms and one unisex ADA room. With 200 gallons of fresh water and 475 gallons of waste capacity, it can handle about 300 guests before anyone needs to think about a tank. Shelters and multi-day stays add the ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer for about 50 users, or the single-station combo for one person at a time.

Standard on every accessible unit we send

Self-contained ramp

Every ADA unit comes with its ramp and railings attached, so a sloped driveway in the Oakland Hills needs no separate ramp rented or built.

Roomy accessible stall

At a Coliseum event, a wheelchair user gets grab bars, a porcelain toilet and enough floor space to turn around inside the unisex stall.

Accessible shower option

Work crews along the Oakland waterfront can shower in a seated roll in stall with a hand held wand and separate hot and cold controls.

Heat and air conditioning

Heat and air conditioning are built into each trailer, so guests stay comfortable on a cool evening by the bay or a warm afternoon at a festival.

Runs with or without hookups

Fresh and waste tanks ride onboard, and a staged generator covers a closed street with no hookups.

Serviced and stocked

The trailer arrives stocked, and when a street fair closes a block for the weekend, we return to empty the tanks and refill supplies.

Sizes and layouts

How to choose between our ADA-compliant trailers

Four accessible units range from a single restroom for a small church hall wedding to a trailer for a 300 guest festival block. Tell us how many people are coming and whether the site has an outlet nearby, and we will match you with the right trailer.

Where our ADA trailers work in Oakland

Accessible restroom and shower trailer rentals for the jobs that matter most

Three kinds of work bring us to Oakland more than any others: emergency shelters, weddings and community gatherings. Each one has its own sizing, its own placement problems and its own questions.

Accessible restroom trailer rentals for evacuation shelters and disaster relief

ADA trailer set up near Berkeley for weddings and receptions

The restrooms in a gym or recreation center are sized for an ordinary day, not for a shelter full of people. Put a few hundred displaced people in that building and the accessible stall is the first one to back up or get blocked by cots. That is the gap an ADA trailer fills, and it fills it beside any door or at the edge of any parking lot.

Oakland has lived this before. The hills have few ways out, so evacuees land in the flat streets below all at once. When the next evacuation happens, people will land in the same lower streets all at once. We plan to stage trailers near those gathering points, not at the fire line, because that is where the need is.

The Red Cross opened a shelter at the West Oakland Youth Center after a 2017 apartment fire and counted 209 overnight stays. Numbers like that show how fast a small building fills. Winter storms have also pushed the city to declare local emergencies, and the city points residents to 211 for current shelter locations. A shelter that runs more than one night needs showers as well as toilets, and that is where the ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer and the Single-Station ADA Shower and Restroom Combo earn their place. Inside one private room, a single guest gets a seated roll-in shower, a toilet with grab bars and a sink, so nobody has to wait on a separate stall.

For a big lot with several hundred people, we pair the seven-room ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer with a shower unit and set a service schedule: restock, empty and clean on a plain timetable, agreed before the first night. Having a plan on paper before an emergency is the cheapest part of the job. Call us and we will build the staging plan with you.

More ways our trailers get used

More jobs for our accessible bathroom trailer rentals

Coliseum and Arena event days

The Coliseum seats up to about 63,000 and the Arena about 19,000, all in one 132 acre complex. Pop-up events and tailgate lots around the complex use accessible trailers for overflow.

Lunar New Year in Chinatown

The Oakland Chinatown bazaar and parade lasts two days and draws thousands. A trailer on a side street gives families with strollers and walkers a private room.

Lakeside opera nights

The West Edge Opera festival at the Scottish Rite Center on Lake Merritt runs for two weeks each summer. Guests of every age attend, so an accessible room near the entrance helps.

Modernization projects with public days

School work such as the McClymonds High School modernization includes new accessible ramps for students. While the school work goes on, a trailer gives visitors and staff an accessible restroom close to the site.

Street block parties

A block party with a street closure has no building to borrow. A trailer with its own ramp turns a curb lane into an accessible restroom for the day.

Outdoor memorials and gatherings

Hillside parks and lakeside lawns host memorials and community meals. A quiet trailer placed out of sight keeps the focus on the gathering.

Church guests and port crews use the same accessible room, and since we keep units across the East Bay, businesses in Oakland can add an ADA trailer to a booking without extra steps.

The math

What renting ADA-compliant trailers saves you

ADA trailer staged outside Oakland, wider view

A wedding at a lakeside venue or a church festival already pays for the space, the caterer and the crew, so the ADA trailer is a small share of the total. It decides whether every guest can stay from the first song to the last.

A street fair on a closed block usually rents stages, tents and tables from several vendors. Our trailer joins that list with a single drop off, one service plan and one phone number for any question.

Simple steps

Getting accessible restroom trailers to your site

Reserving the trailer should take the least effort of anything on your list, with four steps, honest answers and one team owning the job.

1

Call or ask for a quote

Give us your date and a rough head count for your church lot event, and we suggest the unit and how many you need.

2

We check the site with you

We check water and power, arrange a generator and water supply if needed, and mark the exact spot so delivery takes one trip down narrow streets.

3

Delivery and setup

Early on the day of your festival or job start, we set the trailer level, connect power and water, and stock every room.

4

Service and pickup

The trailer stays for the whole job, we answer every call 24/7 through the rainy season, and we come back to take it away afterward.

Church and community events

Mobile ADA restroom trailer rentals for church and community events

ADA trailer staged outside Oakland, closer view

Street fairs and neighborhood festivals fill much of the Oakland calendar. The Oakland Greek Festival fills Lincoln Avenue each May, the Laurel Street Fair closes part of MacArthur Boulevard in August, and the Temescal Street Fair takes over its district in July. The Oakland Carnival parades through Mosswood Park every June, and LakeFest fills the lakeshore a few weeks later. Each draws families with kids, seniors and guests who use wheelchairs.

Church events carry the same need on a smaller scale. A fall fundraiser, a fellowship lunch or a parking lot service often happens at a building with one small restroom, or one upstairs. A ground-level trailer with a ramp gives every member a way to come and stay. For a gathering under about 200 people, the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer is usually the right fit.

At the very large events, the job changes. The Fruitvale Día de los Muertos festival has drawn tens of thousands of people in a single weekend, and the Juneteenth festival at the Lake Merritt Amphitheater and the Black Joy Parade each bring thousands more. At a festival that size, we park the ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer beside the standard restroom bank so the lineup always includes an accessible stall with a ramp.

Block closures change the placement. We look at fire lanes, hydrants and vendor booths, because the city’s special event checklist asks for a site map showing where restrooms go. We send the trailer footprint with your quote so your map is easy to finish. Call now, or request a free quote and include the street and the date of your closure.

Paperwork and accessibility basics

Oakland paperwork for temporary ADA restroom trailer rentals

Special activity permits in Oakland, including special event and sound permits, go through the city’s Economic and Workforce Development office. The city’s special event checklist asks outdoor events and street closures to show restrooms, first aid, fire lanes, hydrants and vendor booths on a site map. It does not set a toilet count, so your map just needs to show where the trailer sits and where guests walk to it.

Before a park event you need two approvals, one for use of the park and one for the special event itself. Start the paperwork well ahead of your date, because park staff check access and cleanup plans too. We send the trailer footprint, ramp length and hookup details with your quote, which are the numbers a permit reviewer asks for.

Our guide below explains how many accessible toilets to plan for. Our ADA trailers meet federal ADA requirements and California’s accessibility rules. The event organizer pulls the permits, and we supply the site details a permit office asks for.

ADA trailer set up near Berkeley for weddings and receptions, wider view

The Oakland access details we take care of

  • Older halls lack accessible restrooms, so ours brings ramp, rails, grab bars and a roomy unisex stall.
  • On Oakland park lawns, we advise a level, firm path for guests to reach the ramp.
  • Closed streets rarely have outlets, so we arrange water and power, or a generator, first.
  • Every unit on the road is licensed and insured, as city venues expect.

Oakland permits, park managers and private halls can each set their own accessible restroom and placement rules. Send us the address and we build the plan around what the venue requires, and since each Oakland park and hall sets its own rules, a quick check on permits before your date helps.

Weddings and receptions

Temporary ADA restroom rentals for weddings and receptions

ADA trailer set up on an East Bay site

Oakland wedding venues are beautiful and often old. The Lake Merritt Sailboat House holds 225 standing guests according to the city’s own listing. The Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate is listed at up to about 300 guests, and the Chabot Space and Science Center puts ceremonies in a redwood amphitheater. None of those places was designed around today’s accessibility needs, and a grandparent with a walker will notice before anyone else does.

That is the real reason couples add an ADA trailer. Any guest who needs a ramp or a little extra room can reach the same private restroom without asking anyone for help. We place the trailer behind a hedge or at the far end of a parking area so it does not show in the photos. Inside you get real flushing china toilets, lighting and a sink, and Alexcia R. told us she could not tell it was a trailer.

Sizing stays simple when you keep the models apart. A reception of roughly 200 guests on a church hall lot or backyard fits the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer, with its women’s, men’s and ADA unisex rooms. Hillside estate weddings with up to about 300 guests call for the ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer and its seven rooms. Weddings get restroom units only, and we will tell you straight if your guest count is close to the line.

Hill weddings in Montclair and the upper Oakland Hills bring narrow roads and sloped driveways. We ask for photos of the access road and the flat spot you have in mind, then confirm the fit before anything leaves the yard. Rain in Oakland falls mostly between November and March, so for a winter reception plan a firm path from the parking area to the ramp. Call now or send a quote request with your venue and date.

Our service

The service behind every one of our ADA restroom trailers

At an Oakland waterfront venue or a hill driveway, our crew delivers, levels and sets the trailer, then hooks up water and power or stages a generator with a water supply. The room is stocked before anyone needs it, and we return after the event to haul it off.

On a multi day Oakland festival or school job, we schedule restocking and cleaning so the room stays in the same shape throughout.

How a job runs

Three job types and the accessible trailers setup for each

Facilities coordinator planning a school modernization with a public open house in West Oakland

When a campus is under construction and the open house date is fixed, we plan the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer for the staff lot nearest the entrance. We confirm the ramp landing, mark the route with the school’s facilities team and set a service day that avoids drop-off hours.

Couple planning a Lake Merritt reception with a guest list that includes several grandparents

When a couple tells us half the guest list is over seventy, we put the trailer where the walk is shortest and the ground is firmest. We suggest lighting along the path and send the footprint to the venue early so the layout is approved before the wedding week.

Church volunteer organizing a fall fundraiser in a parking lot near Fruitvale

When a congregation fills its lot for a fundraiser, we set the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer on the side nearest the hall. We check the slope, keep the fire lane clear and plan a mid-event restock so the supplies never run low.

Oakland neighborhoods we serve with deluxe ADA bathroom trailers

Where our ADA trailers deliver across the East Bay

We deliver accessible trailers to every Oakland neighborhood and the cities around it. If your organization also holds events in Southern California, the same ADA units and the same team handle San Diego, California VIP mobile ADA-compliant restroom trailer rental as well. Give us the street address and the day of your Oakland event, by phone or in a quote request, and we will tell you which trailer fits the spot.

Our ADA trailers reach sites across California from Oakland, including Downtown Oakland, Uptown, Lake Merritt, Adams Point, Grand Lake, Temescal, Rockridge, Piedmont Avenue, Montclair, Oakland Hills, Dimond, Laurel, Fruitvale, San Antonio, Chinatown, Jack London Square, West Oakland, East Oakland, Elmhurst, Coliseum, Maxwell Park, Redwood Heights, Alameda, Emeryville.

Full specifications are on the ADA + 2 restroom trailer spec page for Oakland and the other accessible unit pages, or call and we will spec it to your Oakland guest and crew count. Sizes, station counts and floor plans for every unit are listed in our on-site accessible restroom trailers throughout California. We stage the same units across the wider area; see our CA luxury portable accessible restroom trailer rental for the regions we cover. Planning beyond the city line? See our private accessible restroom trailer rentals in Oakland.

Lake Merritt and Uptown

Lake Merritt hosts LakeFest, the Juneteenth festival at the amphitheater and weddings at the Sailboat House. Crowds here are mixed in age, and accessible rooms near the lakeshore paths are scarce.

Fruitvale

Fruitvale draws tens of thousands of people for its Día de los Muertos festival each fall. For the Fruitvale closure, we set the trailer on a side street with a clear walking route to the ramp.

Temescal and Rockridge

Temescal Alley suits small gatherings and the Temescal Street Fair fills the district every July. Lake Temescal Regional Park once hosted a city family preparedness fair, so the area also has a record of public events.

Oakland Hills and Montclair

The Claremont and Chabot Space and Science Center host weddings on hillside grounds. Narrow roads and slopes mean we confirm access and a level pad before delivery.

West Oakland

West Oakland has the McClymonds High School modernization and the Youth Center that sheltered fire victims in 2017. Projects and shelters here need accessible rooms that arrive fast and stay clean.

East Oakland and the Coliseum district

The Coliseum and Arena complex anchors the district, and Coliseum College Prep is adding classrooms and a gym. Event lots and school sites here both use accessible trailers.

East Bay cities we reach with ADA trailer rentals next to Oakland

Alameda

Alameda sits just across the estuary from Jack London Square and has its own mix of waterfront weddings and neighborhood fairs. A trailer for an island event is planned around the bridge and tunnel approaches.

Emeryville

Emeryville is the small city wedged between West Oakland and Berkeley. Its office campuses and shopping district often need an accessible restroom for outdoor gatherings.

Piedmont

Piedmont is fully surrounded by Oakland, and its Community Hall is a popular small reception site. Small halls like it usually benefit from an extra accessible room outside.

Berkeley

Berkeley starts just north of Temescal and Rockridge. Campus events and street fairs there tend to follow a spring and fall rhythm.

San Leandro

San Leandro lies south of the Coliseum district. Industrial lots and school fields there often need a restroom with a ramp for public days.

Hayward

Hayward gave its name to the fault that runs through the East Bay. School and city projects in the area use accessible trailers on long jobs.

Straight answers

ADA-compliant trailers: what people ask first

How do public sites, schools and agencies handle accessible restroom needs for an Oakland event?

The city checklist wants restrooms drawn on your site map, though it does not say how many you need. The city’s special event checklist asks you to show restrooms on a site map, but it sets no toilet count. School and agency teams usually also want proof of an accessible route to the door. We provide the trailer footprint, ramp length and hookup details, so the paperwork is ready when you are.

Do you restock and clean the trailer on a multi-day job?

Yes. Supplies come stocked, and for longer jobs we agree on a service schedule with you when you book. The visit includes restocking, emptying the waste tank and cleaning the rooms. A school job might get service on a weekday before students arrive, and a shelter might get it every day.

Will an ADA trailer work in Oakland’s cold, wet winter and its foggy summer?

Oakland weather is mild, so the bigger factor is rain than temperature. Plan a firm, level path to the ramp, and tell us if the site is low or shaded so we can position the unit on drier ground. Fog and cool mornings do not affect how the trailer works.

Can I pair an ADA trailer with a larger restroom trailer?

Yes, and many festivals do it. A big trailer carries the volume, and the ADA unit makes sure there is always an accessible stall and a ramp in the lineup. We place the two side by side so guests find both at once. On its own, the ADA + 2 covers about 200 guests and the ADA + 6 covers about 300.

Is a rental practical for a long construction or school project in Oakland?

It is, and school modernizations are a good example. The McClymonds High School work and the classroom and gym expansion at Coliseum College Prep both involve public days and staff on site. A school project with public days and staff on site is the kind of job where an accessible trailer helps, since a visitor may need a restroom with a ramp. We do not recommend ADA units for remote camps or heavy industrial sites.

What goes into the price of an ADA trailer rental?

The quote depends on how long you need the trailer, which model you pick, how far we travel and how hard the site is to reach. The service schedule, the power and water setup and how busy your date is also move it. We give a clear quote after a short conversation and a look at your site photos.

What should I send when I ask for a quote on a busy weekend?

Send the date, the full address, your guest count and the type of event. Add photos of the flat spot, the road in and the nearest outlet. If you have a site map for the city, send that too. With those details we can confirm the trailer size and ramp landing in one call.

When should I check Oakland permits and venue rules?

Check as soon as you pick a date. City special activity permits and park use permits take time, and venues often have their own rules on vehicle access, ground protection and hours. Ask the venue for those rules early and send us the trailer footprint so you can answer their questions.

Can a trailer reach a house in the Oakland Hills?

Often yes, but it depends on the road width, the turns and the slope of the driveway. Send photos or a short video of the approach and the spot where you want it. We confirm the fit before the trailer leaves, and if it will not fit, we say so and suggest a smaller option.

Can a trailer sit on a street closed for a block party?

Yes, once the city has approved your closure. Our crew parks the trailer in the curb lane, clear of hydrants and fire lanes, and sets the ramp down on pavement. Tell us the closure hours so we can plan setup before barricades go up.

Is a standard household outlet enough to power the trailer?

Each trailer uses two 120 V 20 A circuits, so you need two standard grounded outlets on separate circuits, or a generator. Keep the trailer close to the outlets, because long extension cords drop power. Tell us what your site has and we will help sort out the setup.

Resource library: planning guides for ADA trailer rentals in Oakland

Read the guides below for help with sizing, placement and timing, such as how many accessible units a hillside neighborhood fundraiser needs.

A planning checklist for accessible restrooms at an Oakland wedding

A wedding at Lake Merritt, the Claremont or a Montclair backyard has dozens of moving parts, and the restroom is usually near the bottom of the list. For guests with limited mobility it should be near the top. This checklist covers the things we ask about on every call, in the order that saves you the most trouble.

Start with the route. Walk from the parking area to the place where you want the trailer, and then from the trailer to the ceremony and reception. Watch for curbs and steps, and for loose gravel or wet grass that a wheelchair can sink into. Most Oakland venues have at least one trouble spot, and finding it in daylight a week early is far better than finding it in heels at dusk.

Next, pick the ground. Choose firm, level ground for the trailer and leave open space at the bottom where the ramp lands. Soft lawn after rain can swallow a path, so ask the venue if they allow ground protection. On a sloped Oakland Hills driveway, a short level pad matters more than a pretty view.

Think about power and water. Ask your venue manager how many outlets are free near the spot you want, because both circuits need a place to plug in. Ask your caterer or venue manager where outlets are and how many are already in use. If the nearest outlet is far from the best spot, tell us now so we can talk through the options before the date.

Plan the light. Evening receptions end in the dark, and a path with no light is a problem for anyone who walks slowly. String lights along the route, a lamp near the ramp and a clear sign for the accessible room all help. Guests with walkers or canes will appreciate it more than any centerpiece.

Match the size to the guest count. The larger trailer has more rooms, so lines stay short when a whole reception heads to the restrooms at the same time. Tell us who is attending, including how many guests use wheelchairs or walkers, and we will set it up around them.

Finish with the venue and the city. Send the trailer footprint and ramp length to the venue early so they can approve the layout. If you are on park land, a park use permit applies. Then confirm delivery, service and pickup times with us at least a week ahead. With a site check done and the route walked, wedding day is one less thing to worry about.

Access Board guidance on ADA design rules

How to count accessible restrooms by guest count

People often ask how many accessible restrooms a gathering needs, and the honest answer is that it depends on the event and on who is coming. A good place to start is the number of guests you expect and how long they will stay. That rule works for small and medium events, and it is a useful floor for large ones.

Count your guests first, then work out how many toilets that crowd needs in total, because the accessible share comes from that second number. Take 5 percent of that second number and round up. A gathering with 40 toilets would need at least 2 accessible ones. A small reception needs just one, and the one-per-location minimum means a second area of the site, such as a different lawn, needs its own.

That math gives you a floor, not a ceiling. An older crowd at a church lunch or a senior event needs more accessible rooms than a young crowd at a night festival. If you expect many guests who use wheelchairs, walkers or scooters, plan for more. We ask about the guest mix on every call because it changes the answer.

Pick the trailer by group size. When the guest list is closer to 100 and your site is a church hall lot or a backyard, the ADA + 2 Restroom Trailer gives you separate women’s, men’s and ADA rooms without taking up much ground. When the guest list climbs toward 300, the ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer adds seven rooms so a larger Oakland crowd is not stuck waiting outside one door. Do not combine the numbers of the two models, because each one is sized on its own.

Very large events need more planning, so call us early with your expected crowd size and we will help you work out the layout.

Where should it go? Near the main gathering area but not so close that lines block the path. A trailer at the end of a walkway is easier for guests who walk slowly than one across a field. For guidance beyond our trailers, ADA.gov publishes accessibility information that planners can read before they finalize a layout.

When you are ready to book, send us the date, the address, the guest count and the guest mix. A short call is usually enough to settle the size. If you are still unsure, ask for a free site check and we will go through the numbers with you.

What to ask an ADA trailer company before you book in the East Bay

Rental companies are not all alike, and a few good questions will tell you most of what you need to know. These are the ones that matter for an accessible trailer, whether you are booking for a wedding at Lake Merritt, a school project in West Oakland or a festival on a closed street.

Ask about the ramp first. Does it come with the trailer, how long is it, and how much room does it need at the bottom? A trailer that needs a separate ramp from another vendor adds a second delivery and a second point of failure. Ask for the ramp length in writing so you can show it to a venue or a permit reviewer.

Ask what is inside. Are there real flushing toilets, a sink with running water, lighting and grab bars? Ask how many rooms there are and who each room is for. A clear answer lets you picture your guests using it, and a vague answer is a warning.

Ask what the service looks like. For a multi-day job, find out how often the team restocks supplies, empties the waste tank and cleans. Find out who answers the phone if a problem comes up mid-event, and how quickly they pick up. A real company will describe a schedule plainly and will not promise more than it can do.

Ask about the site. A good company wants photos of the access road, the ground and the outlets before it quotes. That is a sign the team plans to fit the trailer to your site, and it is why we do a free site check with every quote.

If your organization plans events in more than one city, ask whether the company can serve them all. The same team that handles ADA restroom trailer rentals in Los Angeles can handle your Oakland date, and accessible restroom trailer rentals in Salt Lake City are available too. One contact across several events saves you from repeating your requirements to a new vendor each time.

Finally, ask what the quote includes. Delivery, setup, service and pickup should all be clear, so there are no surprises. Some first-time renters are surprised that a luxury trailer costs more than a basic portable toilet, and we always show what that difference includes: flushing toilets, a sink, a ramp and a service team behind it.

Placing an ADA trailer on tight Oakland streets, hills and parks

Oakland is a hard city to place a trailer in, and after years of working around the East Bay we have learned where the trouble hides. The hill streets are narrow and the flatland lots are crowded, and park rules add one more thing to check. A little planning beforehand keeps a good event from turning into a stressful morning.

Start with the access road. A trailer needs room to turn, and a hill street with parked cars on both sides may not have it. Walk or drive the route in daylight and look at the tightest corner. Send us a short video of it, and we will tell you before delivery day whether it works.

Next, look at the slope. A trailer needs a level pad, and a sloped driveway in Montclair or Redwood Heights may need shims or a different spot altogether. The ramp also needs a flat landing, so a spot that works for the trailer may not work for the ramp. We check both from your photos.

In the flats, the question is usually space. A church lot or a school staff lot may have just one clear spot, and it may also be the fire lane. Measure the spot, check for hydrants and keep the route to the ramp clear of vendor tables. A good site map, the kind the city’s special event checklist asks for, answers all of this at once.

Parks are different. Lake Merritt, Mosswood Park and the Lake Temescal area each have access rules, and a park use permit applies for events on city land. Ask the park staff about vehicle access, hours and ground protection before you promise a spot to a vendor. Soft turf may need plywood or mats to protect the lawn and the ramp.

Street closures are the last piece. Once the city approves a closure, we plan to place the trailer in a curb lane before barricades go up, with the ramp landing on pavement. If a closure starts at dawn, tell us the hours so setup can happen first. Late deliveries into a closed street are the main cause of last-minute stress.

Whatever the site, a free site check saves you time. If your site is on a hillside, tell us how steep the driveway is so we can plan where the ramp comes down. If it will not fit, we suggest a smaller option or a different spot instead of leaving you guessing.
