Why choose The Lavatory

On-site shower trailer rentals in Billings, done right by The Lavatory

A fire camp gets called up on a Tuesday night. A refinery turnaround crew doubles in size the night before the first shift. Those calls do not wait, and our whole booking process is set up to answer them quickly. We run over 250 units, the largest luxury trailer fleet in the Western U.S., and every one of them belongs to us, so a Billings order pulls from a deep pool instead of waiting for one trailer to come home. We have no yard in Montana, so your unit comes up from our Western fleet on a truck we schedule the day you book, with dispatch open around the clock for emergencies. We have more than thirty years in event and equipment rental behind that plan. See all of our Montana shower trailer rentals, or call us now and get a free quote on your Billings dates.

A private room for every person inside

Each room locks and has its own hot and cold controls. Nobody showers in a shared stall, which matters to a crew that lives on site for a month.

Sized to your shift, not a guess

We ask how many people finish at the same time, not just how many are on the job. A crew of 80 that all quits at six needs more rooms than a crew of 80 spread over three shifts.

Service is part of the rental

We stock soap and paper, pump the waste, fill the fresh side and clean the rooms on a set schedule. You do not have to find a second vendor for any of it.

We plan the drop around the Rims

The Rims cut the Heights off from downtown with a 500 to 800 foot cliff, and only a few roads climb it. A 35 foot unit can take a different route than your crew trucks do, so we pick the road before we pick the delivery time.

Trusted with mobile shower units by companies that could pick anyone

The companies that could rent anything still call us, because a bad shower at a base camp or a film set becomes the story of the whole job. The Lavatory has provided trailers for names like Google, Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, eBay, and Target, for hospitality at Caesars Palace, and for pro sports including the Golden State Warriors, Oakland A’s, and Las Vegas Raiders.

The reason those bookings repeat is simple. A hot shower at the end of a long day is the one thing a crew remembers about the camp, so the trailer has to be stocked, heated and serviced every day of the job, not just the first one. That is how we run every unit in the fleet, and it is the same standard behind every Billings booking, from a two-week jobsite to a festival campground.

Three decades in event and equipment rental, running the largest luxury trailer fleet in the Western U.S. Every unit ours, never a broker’s.

Inside the trailer

Portable shower trailers for film base camps near Billings

In Billings the 8-Station usually lands on a gravel pad next to a refinery fence line or a MetraPark barn, with a power drop and not much else nearby. The smaller combos fit the tight hospital lots downtown.

8-station shower trailer set up at a production base camp

Montana pays productions to shoot here, because the state’s MEDIA Act gives a 20 percent transferable tax credit on in-state spending, and more qualifying spend can push it higher. The program has a 12 million a year cap, and lawmakers argued in 2025 over raising it. The TV series Yellowstone moved its filming to Montana after earlier seasons in Utah, and that tax credit was part of the reason.

Billings has its own on-screen history, since Nebraska and Far and Away both shot in the area. The Moss Mansion and Pictograph Cave State Park are two of the local sites crews use. The 2022 feature Blood for Dust based part of its crew in the old Billings Gazette building. Most of the work here is Western and rural, with wide ground and long days.

The fittings inside a private room

Private rooms with a lockable door

Every shower is its own room with a door that locks, a bench and a hook, so a crew or a camp showers with real privacy instead of a curtain in a row.

Hot and cold water controls

A water heater and onboard tanks feed hot and cold controls in each room, with 1.5 GPM shower heads so the hot water lasts through a full shift of people.

Air conditioning and heat

Climate control in every trailer, so a shower in a July heat wave or a January storm response feels like the one at home.

One-piece gel-coated fiberglass

Walls, ceiling and floor are one molded fiberglass surface with no seams, which is why the rooms clean fast, stay clean and never smell like a locker room.

Runs with or without hookups

Fresh and waste tanks on board, a generator when the site has no power, and the option to tie into on-site septic on a long deployment.

Serviced, stocked and pumped

We deliver the trailer stocked and come back to pump, restock and clean on longer jobs, so day twelve looks like day one.

A base camp on open range has a gravel pad, a generator and a long drive to anything else. Talent needs a private room with hot water between setups, while the crew wants a real shower after a fourteen hour day in dust or snow. We plan the unit around the generator the production already has, and we set it far enough from the set that a pump or AC unit never ends up in the audio.

The first thing we ask a location manager is where the honey wagon sits. Shower units and restroom units should share a service lane, so one truck can reach both without driving through set. We also ask when the company moves, because a two day shoot and a six week shoot need very different tank plans, and a unit that moves with the company needs a clear pull-through path each time.

Full specifications for every unit are on the 8-Station spec page and its four sister pages, or call and we will spec it to your Billings head count.

In practice

From one ADA room to a full camp: our self-contained shower units in Billings

Five shower units cover everything from a single ADA-compliant room to a camp that showers two hundred people a day. Every one has hot water, private rooms and climate control. Tell us the head count, how long the job runs and what the site has for water and power, and we will size it.

8-Station Private Shower Trailer, delivered to sites from Billings to Laurel

8-Station Private Shower Trailer

Eight completely private shower rooms in a 29-foot box, built for crews, camps and relief sites of up to about 200 people a day. Hot and cold controls, 200-gallon fresh and 950-gallon waste tanks, an exterior four-sink hand wash bank under the roof line, and it can tie into on-site septic for long deployments. CAL FIRE approved for wildfire camp service, the spec incident teams ask for in every western state.

ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer for rent near Lockwood and Billings

ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer

Two standard private shower rooms plus one ADA room with a self-contained ramp, built to federal ADA requirements. The right unit when a site needs accessibility without giving up capacity, with 210 gallons of fresh water on board.

4-Station Shower, Restroom and Laundry Combo available for rodeo and arena events around Billings

4-Station Shower, Restroom and Laundry Combo

Four private bathrooms, each with a toilet, sink, shower and power outlet, plus a washer and dryer in a separate room. A self-contained hygiene block for a crew of up to about 30 on a remote or long-term job.

2-Station Shower and Restroom Combo staged for the Yellowstone Valley jobs

2-Station Shower and Restroom Combo

Two private bathrooms with a toilet, sink and shower each, in a compact 11-foot box. The pick for a small crew, a ranch job or a production base that needs both functions in one footprint.

Single-Station ADA Shower and Restroom Combo, delivered to sites from Billings to Lockwood

Single-Station ADA Shower and Restroom Combo

One fully accessible room: ADA china toilet with grab bars, roll-in shower with a seat and hand wand, ADA-height sink and vanity, and a ramp that deploys in minutes. It pairs with any other unit so every person on site is covered.

Bigger jobs run several trailers side by side, and long deployments get a service schedule instead of a one-time drop. If you are between sizes, we spec it to the head count rather than nudge you into more trailer than the job calls for.

Statewide coverage runs through our Montana shower trailer hub, with units sized to the head count.

More Billings jobs we bring self-contained shower unit rentals to

Three kinds of jobs make up most of our Billings work. Film crews shoot on open ground miles from a building. Construction and plant crews work long shifts on sites with no showers at all. Then there is the rodeo and arena calendar at MetraPark, where competitors and stock crews camp on the grounds for days.

BLM Montana and Dakotas fire camps

Billings sits in the middle of the BLM Montana and Dakotas fire program, with engines, hand crews and a fire cache in the region. Montana logged 2,424 wildfires in 2025, and fire camps start on bare ground, so the unit has to work on tanks from the first night.

The ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer, available for rent in Billings

Water plant and river emergencies

When the Yellowstone River floods or gets fouled, the city’s own water can go short. A self-contained unit brings its own fresh water and holds its own waste, which is the point when the taps are in question.

Shelter and outreach hygiene days

Montana Rescue Mission on Minnesota Avenue offers showers to overnight guests and partners with local groups on hygiene days. A private shower unit set in a church or agency lot adds rooms for a day without adding plumbing.

Our 2-Station Shower and Restroom Combo, a compact crew unit, one of the units we rent out around Billings

Beet harvest and grain crews

The Western Sugar plant on State Avenue runs its campaign from early September into February. Farm and plant crews work long cold shifts, and a unit at the shop or the piling ground saves a drive back to town.

Mine and power plant shutdowns

Planned outages at mines and power plants east and west of town pull in outside crews for a few weeks. We set the unit near the contractor parking so crews wash up before the drive home.

Pipeline and transmission builds

Line work between Billings and Colstrip moves every few days. A smaller combo on a single axle keeps up with the crew better than a big unit that needs a long approach.

What ties these together is that a hot shower changes how a long day ends. Because our units sit staged across the region instead of a couple of states away, getting a shower trailer to a Billings site, even on a short-notice call, is an ordinary ask here, not a scramble.

How we price it

The greater Billings booking process for a self-contained shower unit, start to finish

Booking should be the easy part of running a site. Four steps, a straight answer, and one team that owns the whole thing.

1

Tell us about the site

Share the dates, a rough head count and where the trailer will sit. That is enough for us to point you to the right unit and count.

2

We match the trailer and the hookups

We confirm whether the site has water and power or needs a generator and a supply, and pin the exact spot so delivery is one clean trip.

3

Delivery and setup

We arrive on your schedule, level and set the trailer, connect it, heat the water and stock every room so it is ready before the first shift ends.

4

Use it, we handle service and pickup

The trailer holds up through the whole deployment while our line stays open. When you are done, we come back and take it away.

Practical limits

Keeping self-contained shower units clean through a long Billings-area job

The ADA + 2 Private Shower Trailer from our own fleet, rented to Billings customers

We handle the whole thing, not just the drop-off. Our team delivers the trailer, levels and sets it, connects water and power or stages a generator and a water supply, fires the heater and stocks every room before the first person needs it. When the job wraps, we come back and haul it away.

On longer or higher-traffic bookings in Billings, we pump and restock on a schedule, and an on-site attendant is available for camps and productions where the trailer runs all day. That always-clean standard is the difference between a shower people use once and one they are glad to use every night of the job.

Temporary shower trailer rentals for rodeo week and MetraPark events

Studio shot of the 8-Station Private Shower Trailer, which we deliver across Billings

MetraPark sits on 189 acres off 6th Avenue North, and Yellowstone County owns it. First Interstate Arena seats up to 12,000 for concerts. A new outdoor arena opened in August 2025, and a 2022 economic study counted about 819,000 visitors a year across the grounds. That is a lot of people for a fairground built with fixed restrooms and no real shower space for the crews who work it.

Rodeo is the big sport here, and starting in 2025, the rodeo that used to run with MontanaFair moved to August as Rodeo Billings. It runs in the new outdoor arena under PRCA rules, and the NILE puts it on. The NILE Stock Show and Rodeo follows in October, with the 2026 run set for October 9 through 17. Ranch rodeo finals land in the arena on October 10.

Competitors, stock contractors and grounds crews show up days before the gates open. Many sleep in living-quarters trailers on the grounds, and those trailers have tiny showers or none at all. A bank of private rooms near the barns keeps the line short at six in the morning. We set the unit where a service truck can reach it without crossing the arena traffic lane.

Timing is the hard part, because MetraPark books event after event, so a unit has to arrive after one show clears and before the next one loads in. We confirm the move-in window with the grounds staff before we pick a delivery day. If a week ends in snow, we plan the pull-out around the plow schedule.

Crew shower trailer rentals for Billings refinery and hospital jobs

Our 4-Station Shower, Restroom and Laundry Combo, with a washer and dryer, one of the units we rent out around Billings

Billings is a refinery town, and the Phillips 66 refinery on the South Side dates to 1947 and covers about 720 acres. A second refinery sits across the river in Lockwood, now run by Par Pacific. A third refinery, the CHS plant, is one of the largest employers in Laurel. Every one of them runs planned turnarounds that bring in outside trade crews for weeks at a time.

Hospital work is the other big draw right now. Intermountain Health broke ground in June 2025 on a 14-story St. Vincent Regional Hospital, a 737,000 square foot building with 243 patient rooms. Layton Construction expects 600 to 700 workers at peak, and the target finish is 2029. Billings Clinic has been adding to its Fortin Trauma Tower at the same time. Two hospital campuses under construction in one midsize city means years of steady trade labor on tight lots.

Refinery and rail jobs have a gate problem most jobs do not. A contractor cannot just walk into a plant building to wash up, and nobody gets on the access list without insurance papers and a badge. We send our certificate of insurance and our SAM.gov details before the truck leaves. On a turnaround, the unit usually sits just outside the unit fence on a gravel laydown pad, close enough that nobody burns fifteen minutes walking to it.

Laurel Yard is another steady source of work, since it is the largest rail yard between St. Paul and Pasco, and track and yard crews there work far from any plumbing. Beet harvest crews at the Western Sugar plant run from early September into February. Those are cold months for anyone working outside. Our mobile shower trailer rental service covers all of these jobs, and we plan each one around the shift schedule instead of the head count alone.

Everyday cases

What one shift without a mobile shower unit costs outreach programs in Billings

The 2-Station Shower and Restroom Combo trailer, available for rent in Billings

Think about what a Billings deployment actually costs to run. Wages, lodging, fuel, the schedule pressure, the people you are asking to work long days away from home. Then picture the end of that shift with nowhere to get clean. A shower is the one thing every person on site uses, and it is the detail they quietly judge the whole camp by.

A private shower trailer protects everything else you are spending. Crews sleep better and stay on the job, a production keeps cast and crew comfortable through a long schedule, and a relief site gives people back a piece of normal. Set against the cost of the deployment, it is a small line item that carries a lot of the morale, which is why the managers who have run a camp without one book the trailer first the next time.

Read this first

Ramps, placement and ADA rooms for self-contained shower units in the Billings area

Construction jobs follow the federal sanitation standard for construction, which covers drinking water, toilets and washing. When another standard requires showers, such as on lead or asbestos work, the shower rules kick in too. That means hot and cold water, soap and a clean towel for each worker. Our units come stocked to meet those terms, and we keep them stocked on each service visit.

Public events in Yellowstone County go through RiverStone Health, the county’s public health department, which runs environmental health and restaurant inspection. Organizers should ask about sanitation needs when they file for an event. For access, our ADA plus 2 shower trailers meet federal ADA standards and come with their own ramp. We place accessible units on a firm, level path close to where people arrive.

Waste has to go somewhere legal, and Montana DEQ sets the rules for sewage systems, and we haul waste to permitted receiving points instead of letting it sit. On a long job we can tie into a septic or sewer connection if the site has one. Federal work adds one more step to the planning. Airport and hospital projects that use federal money may carry Davis-Bacon wage rules, so we get the contract terms before the first delivery. Booking a site 125 miles west of Billings? Go to the Bozeman service page.

Ramps, rooms and setup on the site

  • ADA-compliant shower units with a ramp, roll-in shower, seat, hand wand, grab bars and an ADA-height sink.
  • Guidance on where to place the trailer so it is easy to reach, easy to service and level.
  • Water and power sorted before delivery, with a generator and a water supply staged when the site has neither.
  • Licensed and insured on every unit we put on the road.

One thing we always say plainly: some sites, agencies and city permits have their own rules on placement, accessibility, greywater and temporary hygiene facilities. Tell us the site and we will help you plan around them, but confirm any permit requirements with the property or the agency as well.

What it costs

Three kinds of Billings jobs, and how we plan hot-water shower trailers for each

The 2-Station Shower and Restroom Combo trailer from our own fleet, rented to Billings customers

Turnaround planner at a Lockwood refinery

When a planned turnaround brings in 70 outside trades on two shifts, we plan an 8-Station on the laydown pad outside the unit fence, send the insurance papers to the badge office ahead of time, and set pump-outs for the off hours between shifts.

Location manager on a Western shoot east of town

On a job like this, with a base camp on open range and a company move halfway through, we plan a 2-Station combo that tows behind the unit trucks and a service stop timed to the lunch break so the pump never runs during a take.

Stock show coordinator during NILE week

When exhibitors sleep on the grounds for a full week in October, we plan a unit near the barns with heated lines and a morning service pass before the first class, and we add an ADA room close to the visitor path.

Billings neighborhoods and what each one asks of a portable shower trailer

8-station shower trailer in a gravel equipment yard, one worker with a towel heading to a door and two techs checking the hitch and propane

We deliver across Yellowstone County and the towns around it from our Western fleet. Every drop gets a route plan before the truck leaves, including the Rims roads, gate hours and the right approach for a 35 foot unit. The same team also covers Boise shower trailer rentals, so crews moving between Idaho and Montana jobs can keep one vendor.

We cover Billings shower trailer rentals across Montana. Towns and job corridors we serve include Downtown Billings, South Side, North Park, The Heights, West End, Shiloh Road, Lockwood, Laurel, Shepherd, Huntley, Ballantine, Worden, Park City, Columbus, Absarokee, Red Lodge, Joliet, Molt, Acton, Hardin, Roundup, Big Timber, Colstrip, Crow Agency.

For a site elsewhere in the state, start from the Montana shower trailer page.

Downtown

The tallest buildings in Montana and the historic Montana Avenue blocks sit here. Lots are small and streets are busy, so a smaller combo fits better than an 8-Station on most downtown hospital or renovation jobs.

South Side

One of the oldest parts of town, with the Phillips 66 refinery in its industrial end east of South 27th Street. Refinery-side work here means gate access, badges and a tight pad near the fence.

The Heights

The Heights sits above the Rims and across the river from much of the city. Main Street carries about 63,500 vehicles a day near Airport Road. We time deliveries up here to miss the rush on that corridor.

West End and Shiloh Road

This is where most of the new building is happening. The Shiloh corridor now counts 289 businesses and about 2,200 workers, and farmland keeps turning into subdivisions. Pads are flat and easy to reach, and jobs tend to run long.

Lockwood

Lockwood grew almost 58 percent between 2010 and 2020 and holds the Par Pacific refinery. It sits across the Yellowstone River, off the Billings Bypass. Industrial pads here are big enough for multi-unit camps.

Shepherd and Huntley

Farm country northeast of town, with grain elevators and hay ground. Harvest crews here work far from a building, so we set units at the shop or the field edge.

Planned rentals are usually scheduled the same week, and we do our best to cover last-minute Billings dates when a trailer is nearby.

What base camps ask about private shower trailers in Billings

Side view of the Single-Station ADA Shower and Restroom Combo, with a ramp entry, bookable for Billings jobs
Can we keep a shower trailer on a Billings hospital job for a year or more?

Yes. Long jobs are common for us, and a hospital build that runs to 2029 is the kind of job we plan for. We set a service schedule that fits your shifts and tie into septic or sewer if the site has it. That connection cuts out most of the scheduled pump-outs. We can also swap units if your crew grows or shrinks along the way.

Is distance from your yard going to change the quote for Billings?

It is one of the factors that shape the quote, because Billings is a long haul from our Western yards, so delivery and pickup cost more than a job next to a yard. The other big factors are how long you keep the unit, how many rooms you need, and whether the site has power and water. Service visits and pump-outs count toward the total as well. We break all of it out in a free quote so you can see what moves the total.

Where should an ADA shower unit go at a MetraPark or fairground event?

Put it on a firm, level path close to where people park or enter. Gravel that is packed hard works well, while loose dirt or grass on a slope does not. Our ADA units have a built-in ramp, so the ramp needs a flat landing at the bottom and room to turn a wheelchair. We look at the site map with you before we place it.

What power does a shower trailer need if our Billings site has no hookups yet?

The 8-Station needs one 50 amp 220 volt circuit. The smaller units use two 120 volt 20 amp circuits. If the site has no power yet, a generator sized for that load works fine, and many crews already have one on site. We will tell you the right size before delivery so the water heater and AC both run at full strength.

When does a combo unit with a restroom and laundry make more sense than a unit with showers alone?

It makes sense when people live at the site for weeks at a time. Crews staying in campers for a long turnaround or a winter harvest will want to wash their work clothes as well as themselves. The 4-Station combo has four private bathrooms and a washer and dryer in a separate room. It comfortably fits a crew of about 30 people. For bigger camps we pair a shower-only unit with a combo.

How do your units hold up at 30 below and on a 100 degree day in Billings?

Every unit has heat and AC, and in deep cold we heat the waste line and tanks and check the unit every day, because a chinook thaw followed by a hard freeze is when lines split. In summer the AC keeps rooms comfortable after a hot shift. Tell us the months you need the unit and we set it up for that season.

Do we need a permit to park a portable shower unit on our lot in Billings?

On private property for a job site, usually not, though your general contractor or the property owner may have rules. On a street, a public lot or a public event, check with the city or the event permit office first. County health may also want to know about sanitation for a public event. We help you figure out what applies before the truck leaves.

Will your trailers meet the requirements on a BLM or Forest Service fire camp in Montana?

Our 8-Station unit is CAL FIRE approved, which is one of the stricter fire camp standards in the West. We are SAM.gov registered and carry the insurance that federal and state contracts ask for. Fire camps in Montana run under interagency agreements, so the incident team sets the final terms. We send our paperwork to the logistics chief as soon as we get the call.

How many shower rooms do we need for a crew of 80 in Billings?

It depends on how many people finish their shift at the same time. If all 80 quit at the same time and want to be out in 30 minutes, one 8-Station is tight and two is comfortable. If they are spread over two shifts, one 8-Station usually covers it. Tell us your shift times and we will size it.

Can you get a unit into a refinery or rail yard in Lockwood or Laurel?

Yes, and it is routine work for our delivery team. Gated plants need insurance certificates, sometimes a safety orientation for our driver, and an escort to the pad. We send the papers ahead and plan the drop around the badge office hours. The pad should be level gravel with a clear approach for a 35 foot unit.

What happens to our temporary showers if Billings water gets cut off?

The unit keeps working, because it carries its own fresh water and holds its own waste, so a water plant shutdown or a boil order does not stop it. We refill the fresh tank from a water truck during service visits. The city’s plant went offline during the 2022 flood, which is why some Billings crews ask for tank-only setups.

Deeper reading for site managers, camp coordinators and producers, from sizing a shower trailer to the head count to keeping hot water through a long deployment. Tap any guide to open it.

Getting a crew shower trailer through the gate at a Billings refinery or rail yard

Most temporary shower trailer rentals are simple, because you pick a spot, we drop the unit and your crew starts using it. A refinery turnaround or a rail yard job in the Billings area is not like that. The unit has to get through a gate, and the gate has rules. If you plan for those rules a week ahead, the unit shows up on time. If you do not, it sits outside the fence while someone chases a signature.

Start with insurance, because almost every plant in Lockwood, Laurel or on the South Side will want a certificate of insurance naming the plant owner and often the prime contractor. Ask the safety office exactly which names go on it and what limits they want. We can turn a certificate around quickly once we have the exact wording. The exact wording on that certificate is where most delays start.

How to size shower rooms for a Billings turnaround or hospital crew

The most common sizing mistake is using total head count. What matters is how many people want a shower at the same time. A crew of 100 spread over three shifts is a very different job than 100 people who all quit at 5:30 and want to be on the road by 6.

Start with the federal number for sanitation on job sites. On construction jobs where another rule requires showers, such as lead or asbestos work, the federal standard calls for one shower for every 10 workers of each sex who must shower on the same shift. That is a floor and not a target, since it only tells you the least a safety office will accept.

OSHA 1926.51 sanitation standard for construction

Winter checklist for a hot-water shower trailer on a Billings job site

A crew shower unit can run all winter in Billings. It just needs a plan that fits the site and the season. The real trouble in this part of Montana is the swing in temperature, because a chinook can warm a site by dozens of degrees in a few hours, then the cold comes back that night. Water that moved at noon can freeze in a line by morning.

Pick a sheltered spot, because wind is a big factor on open ground in the Yellowstone Valley. If you can park the unit downwind of a building, the heaters work less. The lines stay warmer too. Face the doors away from the wind so crews are not stepping out into it wet.

Planning showers for a water emergency in Yellowstone County

Billings pulls its drinking water from the Yellowstone River. Most of the time that works fine, but several times in recent years it has not. In June 2022, record flooding forced the city to shut down its water treatment plant for a time, and the city asked people to conserve with only about a day or so of supply left. A year later, a rail bridge failed near Columbus and dropped cars carrying asphalt and molten sulfur into the river upstream. Water intakes downstream shut down as a precaution while officials tested the river.

Those events tell you something useful for planning. If you run a shelter, a care site, a big job site or a public event in Yellowstone County, your water supply can be out of your hands for days. A plan made ahead of time is much easier than one made during the emergency.
