The Sonoma County Fair runs August 7 to 16 in 2026 at the 200 acre event center on Bennett Valley Road. It has been going since 1936. Grace Pavilion is the main exhibit hall, the Hall of Flowers sits beside it, and the Chris Beck Arena carries the rodeo. There is a racetrack with a grandstand and a 40,500 square foot indoor arena that seats about 4,400. Ten days of that means vendor crews, carnival crews and livestock exhibitors living on the grounds, not driving home at night.
Country Summer takes the same grounds for three days in June, June 12 to 14 in 2026, with a full country lineup and thousands of people through the gate. In late August the Santa Rosa Marathon starts and finishes at Old Courthouse Square and runs the Prince Memorial Greenway along Santa Rosa Creek, with a 10K and 5K on Saturday and the marathon off at 6:30 Sunday morning. Levi’s GranFondo puts riders on seven different routes out toward King Ridge. Race weekends are a turnover problem, not a head count problem. Everyone wants a shower in the same 90 minutes.
Harvest is the season that surprises people. In 2026 Sonoma Valley started picking on July 16, the earliest start in 40 years, on what growers counted as the 201st harvest here. One in four jobs in this county is in wine, and more than 54,000 people work in it full time. The Hearn Avenue interchange rebuild at Highway 101 has crews working the south end of town, reconstructing the whole crossing for cars, bikes, buses and people on foot. At the Laguna Treatment Plant on Llano Road there is flood protection work planned for the plant itself, the Geysers and reclamation pump stations, and the biosolids facility.
