Why choose The Lavatory for portable laundry trailer rentals in California

The Lavatory brings a full commercial laundry to your California site in one delivery. Our 8-Station unit puts eight commercial washers and eight dryers under one roof, with a large basin sink, a folding table and LED lighting, so it washes eight loads at once, all day, on site. When a smaller team needs bathrooms too, our 4-Station Combo pairs four private baths with showers and a separate laundry room in one footprint.
You deal with one company for the whole job. The Lavatory quotes it, sizes it, delivers it, levels it, connects it, services the tanks and picks it up. Our dispatch team plans Southern California, the Bay Area, the Central Valley, the Central Coast and the far north as one calendar, so the right unit lands on the right site. Call for a free quote and get a straight answer on the unit, the power and the service plan.
Our own units, our own people
Every commercial laundry unit on your California site is part of our owned fleet and is set by people who work for us. One phone number carries the job from quote to pickup. Nobody passes your order to a stranger with a truck.
Real commercial washers and dryers
Eight washers and eight dryers in the 8-Station mean a full camp can wash in rounds instead of waiting on two home machines. The units are built for long days of heavy loads: mud, sweat, dust and stage makeup included.
Straight answers before you book
At the quote you hear which unit fits, what power and water it needs and how often we will service it. If the spot is too tight or the road too steep, we say so on the first call, so delivery day holds no surprises.
Want the full spec sheet before you call? See the 8-Station commercial laundry trailer for California job sites and the 4-Station restroom, shower and laundry combo unit for California crews, each with dimensions, tank sizes and power needs.
Large companies book our laundry trailers again and again for long jobs. The Lavatory has provided trailers for names like Google, Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, eBay, and Target, for hospitality at Caesars Palace, and for pro sports including the Golden State Warriors, Oakland A’s, and Las Vegas Raiders.

“We used The Lavatory for a crew camp on a Kern County job, and I could not be more impressed. The 8-Station kept up with every load, and the team answered every question fast. The best laundry trailers you can find for a long job.”

“Our staff camp near the Coachella Valley needed more than a laundromat run every few days. The combo unit gave us showers and a washer and dryer in one spot, and it stayed spotless all week. It felt like a real home laundry room.”

Self-contained laundry trailer units for rent across the state
Two units cover nearly every California laundry request. The 8-Station is the workhorse for big camps, large crews and relief sites. The 4-Station Combo, with one stacked washer and dryer beside four private baths, is the answer when a smaller group needs baths, showers and laundry in one place. Our own team tows, levels and connects both, and either one can stay a weekend or a full season.

8-Station Laundry Trailer
Eight industrial washers and eight dryers with a full wash and dry cycle, a large basin sink, a folding table, LED lighting and two HVAC units. The box is 8 feet 5 inches by 21 feet, and the unit runs 26 feet 4 inches long with the tongue and 12 feet 4 inches wide with stairs. It carries a 750 gallon waste tank and needs two 50 amp, 240 volt circuits within 100 feet, or a generator plan we arrange.
4-Station Restroom, Shower and Laundry Combo
Four private baths, each with a toilet, sink, shower and outlet, plus a separate laundry room with a stacked washer and dryer. It is sized for crews and long-stay groups up to about 30 people. The combo runs 26 feet 4 inches long with the tongue, 12 feet 4 inches wide with stairs and 11 feet 4 inches tall with its AC. It holds 105 gallons of fresh water and 750 gallons of waste and runs 1.5 GPM metered shower heads with hot and cold water. One AC unit with a smart thermostat keeps it comfortable. Power is one 220 volt, 50 amp circuit or two 110 volt, 20 amp circuits within 100 feet.
Not sure which one fits? Tell us how many people are on site, how long they stay and what they are washing. We will size it honestly, and if your site also needs restrooms or showers, we can send those from the same fleet on one site plan and one service schedule.
How to size a temporary laundry setup for your head count

Every California quote starts with a few numbers: how many people, how many days, what kind of dirt and what the site has for power and water. These are the working figures behind our advice.
Small teams, up to about 30 people
The 4-Station Combo gives a small crew or long-stay group four private baths with showers and a stacked washer and dryer. It suits a survey team living out of one remote site for a few weeks.
Large camps and big crews
The 8-Station washes eight loads at a time and dries eight more. For a large camp, the math is loads per person per week, plus extra for mud, dust or wardrobe that needs washing after every wear. We work that number out with you and add a second unit when one cannot keep pace.
Peak hours at shift change
Laundry demand bunches up when a shift ends. If a hundred people walk off the job at once, the line forms at the washers within minutes. We size capacity around the busiest hour of the day, not the daily average, and many sites post set wash times by team to spread the load.
Length of stay
A two-week job and a six-month job need different service plans. Short stays need fewer visits. Long jobs get a standing schedule for water and pumping that we change as the head count grows or shrinks.
Power on site
Plan the 8-Station around two 240 volt circuits rated at 50 amps each, placed close to where it parks. The combo is lighter on power. Remote California sites often have no power at all, and we plan a generator for those.
Water and waste
The 8-Station and the combo each hold 750 gallons of waste. Where a water line and sewer hookup exist we connect to them. Where they do not, we bring water and pump waste on a set schedule, and the waste tank size sets that schedule.
Space, ground and access
Pick a spot on firm, fairly level ground with a clear path for the truck to back in. Paved lots, gravel yards and packed dirt all work. Stay out of low spots that hold storm water, and keep the stairs clear, since people come and go with full laundry bags.
Tight city lots
Urban lots in San Francisco, Oakland and downtown Los Angeles often come with narrow gates, sharp turns and street parking rules. Send photos and the gate width early, and we will plan the approach and the exact spot before the truck leaves the yard.
Fog, cool nights and dryer time
On the Central Coast and around the bay, fog and cool nights keep heavy work clothes damp longer than in the valley. Thick denim and coveralls need more dryer time there, so we count the local climate into the load math.
Dust, mud and pre-rinse
Dusty solar sites and muddy farm work add loads per person, and heavy gear often needs a rinse before it goes in a machine. The large basin sink in the 8-Station handles that pre-rinse, and the folding table keeps sorted loads off the floor.
Top industries we serve with mobile laundry trailers in California
Laundry trailers are for people who live on a site for days or weeks. These are the uses we see most across California, each with its own size, placement and service plan.

Fire camps and disaster recovery
Fire camps run long rotations, and crews come off the line with smoke and soot in every layer. Agencies use contracted shower and laundry units so firefighters start each shift in clean clothes. After a fire, flood or quake, displaced households need the same thing while homes and laundromats sit without water or power. Incident teams can call our 24/7 line with the camp location and head count and get a clear answer on which unit is free.
Construction, solar and infrastructure
Solar and battery builds in the Mojave and the Central Valley, transmission lines and highway and water projects keep crews living near the work for weeks. A portable laundry unit at the man camp or the laydown yard saves hours of driving to town. In San Diego's east county and the High Desert, towns sit far apart and public laundry is scarce, so a unit on site also saves a long round trip after every shift. Clean work clothes mean fewer people wearing dusty gear into their trucks and housing.
Plant shutdowns and turnarounds
Refinery and plant turnarounds in the Bay Area and the Los Angeles Harbor area bring large temporary crews for a few intense weeks. Coveralls and flame-resistant clothing need frequent washing, and local laundromats cannot absorb a few hundred extra workers. An 8-Station near the crew parking or the contractor village handles the load on site.
Utility, timber and mountain road crews
Line clearing, timber work and highway repair in the far north and the Sierra often put crews in remote camps or small motels with no laundry at all. A unit at the crew yard keeps work clothes clean through a long stretch and saves an evening drive down the mountain.
Film and TV wardrobe
Wardrobe departments wash costumes on location and at base camp all through a shoot. Their own trailers, often 35 to 53 feet long, are full of racks and work tables, so extra washers and dryers help on a long location run. Our units work base camps in the San Fernando Valley, desert locations near Lancaster and Palmdale and shoots along the Central Coast.
Shelters, outreach and public health
Shelters, winter and cooling centers and outreach events use a mobile laundry unit for a defined season or a set contract. In Los Angeles, a City Council district funded a year-long mobile laundry contract for Chinatown, where LAist reported no laundromats at all. Many renters in the city share a few machines or have none, which is why programs add a unit for a season. Clean clothes help with health, job interviews and basic dignity, and a unit on site reaches people who cannot get to a laundromat.
Agriculture and seasonal labor housing
Harvest seasons in the Central Valley, the Salinas Valley and the Imperial Valley bring seasonal crews to housing and packing sites far from town. A commercial laundry unit at the housing site gives workers a place to wash after long, hot shifts in the fields.
Long-stay events and staff camps
Multi-day festivals, desert races and large productions in the Coachella Valley and the High Desert house staff and crews on site for one to three weeks. The laundry unit serves the staff camp, so the people running the event have clean clothes every day of the build, the show and the teardown.
Tell us about your camp, crew or program. Call (866) 509-6846 or request a quote, and most quotes go out the same day.
California fire season, heat and storm plan for portable laundry units

Summer and fall are the busiest stretch for laundry units in California, because fire season, harvest and summer construction all overlap. We plan routes and service days around that overlap. Santa Ana winds can bring red flag days to Southern California well into winter, and roads near a fire can close with little warning, so we confirm access before every service visit in those conditions.
Heat is the next problem. Central Valley summers and the deserts around Palm Springs and Barstow routinely pass 100 degrees, and people sweat through clothes faster than in a mild coastal town. In the hottest stretches we run service visits early in the day and add water deliveries when the load count climbs.
Winter brings storms off the Pacific, flooding in low areas and snow in the Sierra and around Lake Tahoe. We check ground conditions and access roads before delivery, avoid low spots that hold water, and set the unit level on firm ground. Mountain sites can need chains and a clear plowed path to the door.
Earthquakes do not keep a season. Southern California and the Bay Area both sit on active faults like the San Andreas and the Hayward, and after a strong quake whole neighborhoods can lose water or power at once. If a fire, storm or quake affects your site, we will call you, secure or move the unit as needed and get it back to work once the roads are safe.

Booking a temporary laundry unit, step by step

1. Call or request a quote
Tell us the address, the start date, how many people are on site and how long you need the unit.
2. We size it and check the site
We match the unit to your head count and look at ground, slope, gate width, power and water. Remote and mountain sites get extra attention. A few photos of the spot help us plan.
3. Delivery and setup
Our team delivers, levels the unit, connects power, water and waste where available, starts the climate system and walks your site lead through the machines before leaving.
4. Service and pickup
On long rentals we pump waste and bring water on a set schedule, adjusting as the head count changes. When the job wraps up we pull the unit and leave the site clean.
Permits, worker sanitation rules and placement for laundry units in California

A laundry unit on private property for a private job usually needs no permit of its own, though the owner, the city or the county may set conditions. Rules vary from one city and county to the next, especially for units on public land, in a park or on a street. We work through placement, utilities and the site plan as part of the quote, and we can supply unit dimensions and power needs for any application you file.
California runs its own workplace safety program through Cal/OSHA, which covers most private employers in the state. On construction sites, the federal sanitation rule 29 CFR 1926.51 includes washing facilities alongside toilets and water, and many contractors fold a laundry unit into the same sanitation plan for long jobs where crews live near the work.
Wastewater from washers is not something to dump on the ground. Each of our two laundry units carries a 750 gallon waste tank, and waste goes out through licensed hauling and permitted disposal. On sites with a sewer connection we hook up to it where the owner allows. Your county environmental health office has the final word on local disposal rules, and we plan around them.
Property owners set their own terms too. Church lots, school yards and shopping center parking lots often want a short written agreement covering the spot, the hours people can use the unit and who pays for any water or power drawn from the building. Settle that early, and the rest of the setup goes quickly.
On a public street or in a city park, the local fire department may ask for clear access lanes around the unit. Fire camps and incident sites follow the incident's own layout, and we place the unit where the camp plan puts it.
For the source material, see Cal/OSHA, the state workplace safety division, the federal construction sanitation rule 29 CFR 1926.51 and Cal Fire’s statewide fire information.

Questions about renting a laundry trailer in California
How many people can one 8-Station unit keep in clean clothes?
It depends on how many loads each person needs per week and how dirty the work is. Tell us your head count, the length of stay and the type of work, and we will size it with you, adding a second unit if the numbers call for it.
What power does a laundry unit need?
The big 8-Station draws a lot: two separate 50 amp feeds at 240 volts, no more than 100 feet from the trailer. For the 4-Station Combo, either a single 220 volt, 50 amp hookup or a pair of 110 volt, 20 amp outlets will do. No power on site? We bring a generator plan.
What about water and waste?
We connect to water and sewer hookups where they exist. Where they do not, we bring water and pump the 750 gallon waste tank on a set schedule. Waste goes out through licensed hauling.
Can we get showers and laundry in one unit?
Yes. The 4-Station Combo pairs four private baths, each with a toilet, sink and shower, with a separate laundry room holding a stacked washer and dryer. It suits crews and long-stay groups up to about 30 people.
Do you serve fire camps and disaster sites?
Yes. Fire camps, evacuation centers and relief yards are core work for our laundry units. Give us the incident address when you call, and our dispatch team will tell you which unit is free to send toward the camp.
Who handles permits?
Site rules vary by city and county. We work through placement, utilities and the site plan with you in the quote and provide the unit dimensions and power needs for any application.
How far ahead should we book?
For a planned job, as soon as your dates are set. Peak fire season and summer construction dates fill first, and rates follow demand.
How fast can you deliver?
Planned jobs booked ahead get their delivery date confirmed in the quote.
Can you set a unit in a parking lot or church lot?
Yes. Paved lots work well when the surface is level and the truck can back straight in. We check for overhead lines, low branches and parking blocks first, and the property owner signs off on the spot and any hookups.
Can you reach a mountain site in the Sierra or near Lake Tahoe?
Yes. Tell us the road, the last turn and the gate width when you call. Narrow, steep drives are common in the foothills and the Tahoe basin, so we confirm grade and turning room first, and in winter we ask for a plowed path to the door.
Do farm labor camps and packing sites rent laundry units?
Yes. Growers and labor contractors in the Central Valley, the Salinas Valley and the Imperial Valley rent units for the harvest season. We set the unit at the housing site and plan tank service around the long drives between farms.
Can a refinery or plant turnaround rent more than one unit?
Yes. A large turnaround crew may need two or more 8-Station units. We lay them out near crew parking or the contractor village so the line at the machines stays short when shifts change.
Can you move the unit if our camp relocates?
Yes. Camps and job sites shift as work moves. Call with the new spot and the date, and we will drain and pump the tanks, haul the unit and set it up again at the new location.
Can a laundry unit stay on a job site for months?
Yes. Many contractors keep one through the whole project. We set a pumping and water schedule, adjust it as the crew grows or shrinks and swap units if the job changes.
Is this a good fit for a film or TV shoot?
Yes. Wardrobe departments use our units at base camp and on location to wash costumes between scenes and shoot days, especially on long runs away from a studio lot.
Can shelters and outreach programs rent one?
Yes. Shelters, cooling and winter centers and outreach programs rent units for a set season or a contract period. We plan placement, power and service around the site.
What should we have ready on delivery day?
Mark the spot, clear a path for the truck and have someone on hand who knows where the power panel and water line are. If the site has a locked gate or a guard shack, give us the code or a contact name ahead of time.
Do you rent laundry units outside California?
This page covers California, where our laundry units work statewide. Out-of-state orders are handled by arrangement, with the West Coast as our core and emergency, disaster and long-term rentals farther afield. Call with the address and dates, or see our nationwide laundry trailer page.
