The airport is the clearest example in the city right now. The first phase of the new Terminal 1 opened to passengers on September 23, 2025 with 19 gates and a parking plaza holding about 5,200 spaces. Phase 1B started that same month, after the original Terminal 1 was closed and torn down, and it adds 11 more gates to bring the terminal to 30 by early 2028. Emergency shower trailer rentals for relief and shelter sites in San Diego
January 22, 2024 is the day this city stopped treating flooding as somebody else’s problem. Two to three inches of rain fell in about three hours, the wettest January day in San Diego’s record. San Diego Fire-Rescue ran close to 200 swift water rescues before the afternoon was over. The mayor declared a state of emergency. Encanto, Rolando, Mountain View, Mount Hope, Shelltown and Southcrest took the worst of it, and homes on 38th and Beta Street were destroyed outright. Roughly 1,000 homes and businesses were damaged and about 5,000 residents were affected.
Two years later families were still rebuilding, and Southcrest had another flood scare in early January 2026. That is the part people outside this work miss. A flood is not a weekend. Mud-out, demolition, mold remediation and rebuild crews work contaminated structures for months, and none of them should get into a truck in the same clothes they wore into the house. We have put units on church lots and school lots inside those neighborhoods. Tight streets, neighbors on all four sides, no staging room. That is a scouting job before it is a rental.
Fire evacuation here follows a different shape. Shelter sites in this county are community college gyms, school parking lots and the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which has 370 acres and six exhibit halls and sits next to a horse park with 400 permanent stalls for the animals nobody can leave behind. A paved lot with a gate is a great place to put a trailer. It is also a place with pedestrians walking through, so we barricade and light the approach before we hand it over.
Speed is the whole question on this work, and the answer is the unit, not the promise. California sets a real floor and that works in your favor. Cal/OSHA Title 8 section 1527 requires at least one washing station for every 20 employees or fraction of 20, kept clean and sanitary, with enough water to actually wash, soap or another cleanser on hand, and single-use towels or a warm air blower. Section 1526 sets the toilet count the same way and requires the facilities to protect privacy. Section 3395 adds shade once it passes 80 degrees, high heat procedures at 95, drinking water at a quart per person per hour, and close watch on new hires for their first 14 days. Where the trailer sits is a separate question with a separate answer, and in San Diego it depends on who owns the dirt. How often does it get serviced and who handles that?
We do, and it is part of the rental, not an extra you arrange. On a standard jobsite we stock and clean on a set schedule and pump before the waste tank becomes an issue. Cadence depends on headcount and tank size more than anything else. A 40 person crew on an 8-Station is a very different pump schedule than 200 people a day at a camp. On sites with permit hours, like the infrastructure jobs out in North City, we build the service window around your hours instead of asking you to move them.

Are the units ADA compliant under California code or only federal?
Both. Can I get showers, restrooms and laundry on one trailer?
Yes, and on long deployments it is usually the smarter order. What does my site need to have ready before the truck shows up?
Less than you think. Reasonably level ground, enough room to swing a 35 foot rig, and a clear answer on power. We bring plate and level the unit ourselves. On soft ground or fresh fill we will plate under it so it does not walk. What actually causes delivery-day problems in this city is access, not the pad. Narrow canyon streets, a gate nobody has the key to, or a beach neighborhood at noon in July.
How long can I keep a unit, and does a long rental change anything?
There is no ceiling. We run deployments that last a weekend and deployments that last most of a year, and long ones are common here because base projects and infrastructure packages run on long schedules. What changes is the servicing plan. Past a couple of weeks we look at tying into septic or sewer where a connection exists, and that takes pumping off the daily schedule. We also start planning restock volume differently, because a camp burns through supplies faster than a 20 person jobsite.
We need showers on a military installation. What is different?
Lead time, mostly. Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Coronado and MCAS Miramar all require vehicle clearance and a badged escort, and that has to be requested well ahead of the delivery date rather than the morning of. We are SAM.gov registered, we carry the insurance certificates agencies ask for, and our specs go out in a format a contracting officer can review. Send us the installation and the date and we will start the access request while the order is still being written.
Can you scale up mid-job if our headcount grows?
Yes, and it happens constantly on incident work. We own over 250 units, so adding a second or third trailer is a scheduling question rather than a sourcing one. On camps we plan the power and the pump route for the larger number from the start, even if you only take one unit on day one. That way the second one plugs in instead of forcing a re-layout.

City land is the first. Streets, parks, beaches and plazas inside the city go through the Office of Special Events and Filming, which sits downtown at 1200 Third Avenue. The real rule is the 120 days they recommend, because that is the window that lets environmental review and stakeholder coordination finish without anybody rushing. Large public projects in this city do not work whenever they want. They work when the permit says they can, and that single fact reshapes how a private shower trailer gets serviced.
Pure Water San Diego is the clearest example running right now. The North City portion has been under construction since August 2021. The reclamation plant expansion site works weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The pure water facility and pump station site works weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Those hours exist to protect the neighborhoods around them, and they are not negotiable because a vendor finds them inconvenient.
