Why choose The Lavatory

The Lavatory: the Salt Lake Valley authority on luxury portable restroom rentals

Get another quote first if that helps you feel sure. Then send it to us, and we will read it line by line with you at no charge and point out what it leaves out. Restroom quotes in this valley often skip the things that matter most here: who pumps the waste tank and how often, whether the unit has heat for a cold night on the benches, what happens if the hose freezes at dawn, and whether the trailer is even owned by the company quoting it. Our quotes spell out the unit, the delivery window, the service schedule and the pickup, so you can compare them honestly. Call us or request a quote and we will walk you through ours in plain words. Campgrounds and outdoor sites often pair this with mobile shower rentals in Salt Lake City.

A deep fleet, never brokered

We run a direct fleet, not a reseller or a broker, with more than 250 luxury trailers we own outright. The unit on your quote is the unit that shows up.

Real restrooms inside

China toilets, running water, mirrors and good light. Guests feel like they stepped into a nice hotel restroom.

Heat for bench winters

Every unit has heat on a thermostat, so rooms stay warm on a January night above Foothill Drive.

We plan for canyon roads and bench streets

Salt Lake City sits between the Wasatch Range and the Oquirrh Mountains, and the east side climbs from about 4,200 feet on the valley floor to over 5,000 feet on the upper benches. Canyon roads close for avalanche control in winter. We check street grade, curb space and road status before every delivery, so the truck and trailer arrive on time and fit the spot.

“We book The Lavatory whenever an event calls for restrooms that look as good as the rest of the setup, and the units they brought to our Salt Lake City event were spotless. The team is easy to reach, answers questions quickly and makes room for every change we throw at them. Quality and service were outstanding from delivery to pickup.”

Useful context

Proof from the homeowners who have booked our VIP restroom trailers

The companies that could rent anything still call us for restrooms, because a cheap plastic unit at a launch party or a shareholder event ruins everything the day is meant to say. The Lavatory has provided luxury restrooms for names like Google, Tesla, BMW, Mercedes, eBay, and Target, for hospitality at Caesars Palace, and for pro sports including the Golden State Warriors, Oakland A’s, and Las Vegas Raiders.

The reason those bookings repeat is simple. A luxury restroom is the one vendor a guest uses and remembers, for better or worse, so the trailer has to be stocked, clean and working from the first guest to the last. That is how we run every unit in the fleet, and it is the same standard behind every Salt Lake City booking, from a backyard engagement party to a festival gate.

Three decades in event and equipment rental, running the largest luxury restroom trailer fleet in the Western U.S. Every unit ours, never a broker’s.

Inside the trailer

Emergency restroom trailer rentals for water main breaks and plumbing failures in Salt Lake City

For a Salt Lake City reception or company event with 150 to 400 guests, the 5-Station is the unit we recommend most. For a festival crowd or a long day with an open bar, we step up to the 9-Station or the 8-Station Private Stall Deluxe.

A Lavatory 3-Station restroom trailer parked on a sidewalk edge beside a fenced lawn, with homes and mountains behind it

Salt Lake City winters are hard on pipes. January averages a low near 24 degrees at the airport, the bench neighborhoods run colder and snowier, and freeze and thaw cycles stress old water mains under the east side streets. When a main breaks or a sewer line backs up, an office, school, church or restaurant can lose every restroom in the building at once. Most of those buildings cannot legally stay open without working restrooms for staff and visitors.

The valley also plans for bigger events. The magnitude 5.7 Magna earthquake on March 18, 2020 cut power to roughly 50,000 customers and damaged about 145 historic structures, and a September 2020 windstorm knocked down trees and power lines across the valley. Emergency planners along the Wasatch Front write their plans around a large Wasatch Fault earthquake, where water and sewer service to buildings is among the first things to fail.

Our 24/7 line takes these calls, and we keep trailers staged close to the city so one unit coming back from a weekend event never holds up your outage. We place the trailer by the entrance you want people to use, run it on its own fresh water and waste tanks so it does not depend on the broken system, and set a pumping schedule until your plumber is done. For repairs that stretch into weeks, we switch to a weekly service rhythm and leave the unit in place.

Property managers and facility teams can also set up a standing plan with us before winter, with the site, the unit size and the placement already agreed. If the outage comes with a crew working long days on the repair, our Salt Lake City shower trailer rentals can sit beside the restrooms on the same lot.

Suite by suite: what a private suite gives you

Flushing china toilets

Real porcelain toilets with a foot flush, the same fixtures your guests use at home, not a chemical tank.

Running-water sinks

Stainless steel sinks with real running water, hand soap, and towels, fed by onboard water tanks so you are covered even without a hookup.

Climate control

Air conditioning for a summer afternoon and heat for a cold evening, so the trailer stays comfortable no matter the season.

Framed mirrors and lighting

Oversized framed vanity mirrors, warm interior lighting, and finished flooring that reads like a venue restroom, not a jobsite.

Fully stocked, always fresh

Premium toilet paper, towels, soap, and fragrance, restocked and pumped so the unit stays fresh from the first guest to the last.

Power and water handled

Onboard water tanks plus a generator when your site has no hookup, so the trailer runs anywhere from a vineyard to an open field.

Full specifications for every unit are on the 5-Station spec page and its four sister pages, or call and we will spec it to your Salt Lake City guest count.

The full restroom trailer fleet is one page over; below is how we size a unit to a Utah guest count.

We serve weddings, corporate events and productions with luxury restroom trailer rentals throughout Utah, sized to the guest count.

Race days, remodels and campus events: more places our portable restroom trailers go

Three kinds of calls fill our Salt Lake City calendar. Buildings that lose water or sewer service need working restrooms within hours. Couples hosting receptions in gardens and backyards want restrooms that match the day. Event teams downtown want private restrooms for performers, crews and VIP guests. Each one plans differently, and we plan each one with you.

Marathons and fun runs

The Salt Lake City Marathon each April and dozens of smaller races need restrooms at the start and finish. We place trailers where runners gather before the gun.

Office and store remodels

When a remodel takes the building’s restrooms offline, a trailer by the back door keeps staff at work. We service it on a set schedule until the plumbing is back.

Campus and hospital projects

Building work on occupied campuses often cuts crews off from indoor restrooms. A trailer at the staging area keeps them clean and on site.

The 3-Station Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events

Church and ward activities

Stake events, youth camps and ward parties can outgrow a building’s restrooms fast. We size a unit to the crowd and place it near the pavilion.

The 5-Station Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events

Farmers markets and street fairs

Weekend markets and block parties need restrooms for vendors and visitors. A compact trailer fits a closed street or a corner lot.

The 8-Station Private Stall Deluxe Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events

Film and photo shoots

Crews shooting on location around the valley want a clean restroom near base camp. We match the unit to the crew size and move with the schedule.

What ties these together is the guest experience. Nobody remembers a restroom that worked, but everybody remembers one that did not. Because our units sit staged across the region instead of a couple counties away, getting a luxury trailer to a Salt Lake City date, even a last-minute one, is an ordinary ask here, not a scramble.

Fair warning

Why corporate planners budget for a luxury restroom trailer first in Salt Lake City

The 9-Station Restroom Trailer, our highest-capacity luxury unit, available for Salt Lake City-area events

Think about what a Salt Lake City event actually costs to put on. The venue, the catering, the flowers, the photographer, the hours of planning. Then picture a guest walking out of a hot plastic box in the middle of all of it. Nobody plans for that. The restroom is the one vendor every single guest uses, often more than once, and it is the detail they quietly judge the whole event by. Handwashing gets forgotten, so we wrote about portable restrooms for outdoor events.

A luxury restroom trailer protects everything else you spent on. It reads like an extension of the venue, holds up through a full day of guests, and gives people one less thing to remember for the wrong reason. Set against the total cost of the day, it is a small line item that quietly carries a lot of the impression, which is exactly why the hosts who have been burned once book the trailer first the next time.

Right now

The Salt Lake City booking process for a restroom trailer, start to finish

Booking should be the easy part of planning an event. Four steps, a straight answer, and one team that owns the whole thing.

1

Tell us about the event

Share your date, your rough guest count, and the venue. That is enough for us to point you to the right size trailer.

2

We match the trailer and site

We pair you with a unit, confirm whether the site has water and power or needs a generator, and pin the exact spot so delivery is one clean trip.

3

Delivery and setup

We arrive on your schedule, level and set the trailer, connect it, and stock it so it is ready and fresh before the first guest.

4

Enjoy it, we handle pickup

The trailer holds up through your whole event while our line stays open. When you are done, we come back and take it away.

VIP restroom trailer rentals for backstage areas and big events in Salt Lake City

A Lavatory restroom trailer on a tree-lined gravel drive beside a lawn, with its steps and handrail deployed

Salt Lake City hosts a busy calendar of large events. The Days of ’47 celebrations fill the streets each July, the Utah Pride Festival draws big crowds downtown every June, the Utah State Fair runs for 11 days at the Utah State Fairpark each September, and FanX brings pop culture fans to the Salt Palace. Concerts, races and festivals fill the summer weekends in between. The next town over has its own details on the West Valley City service page.

Every one of those events has a group that needs its own restrooms: performers, crews, sponsors, VIP ticket holders and volunteers who work 12 hour days. Sending them to the public lines wastes their time and breaks security. A VIP restroom trailer behind the stage or inside the hospitality area keeps them close, keeps the back of house separate, and gives sponsors the kind of room they expect. For an outdoor site a short drive from Salt Lake City, look at VIP restroom trailers in West Jordan.

For backstage we usually place a 2-Station or 3-Station close to the green rooms, where space is tight and a short trailer fits between production trucks. For VIP areas with a few hundred guests, the 8-Station Private Stall Deluxe gives each guest a private room with its own sink. We add an ADA + 2 wherever the plan calls for accessible restrooms, and we pump and restock after gates close so the trailers are fresh for the next day. Parks and campgrounds 20 miles east of Salt Lake City can book upscale restrooms in Park City.

Downtown load-ins run on tight windows. We confirm our delivery time with your production team, bring the trailer in before the stage trucks block the lot, and pull it out after load-out. Event teams planning across the state can compare notes with our North Las Vegas restroom trailer rentals, where we run the same kind of backstage setups for large events.

How it works

Set, stocked and serviced: bathroom trailers in Salt Lake City

The ADA + 6 Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events

We handle the whole thing, not just the drop-off. Our team delivers the trailer, levels and sets it, connects water and power or stages a generator, and stocks it before your first guest arrives. When the event wraps, we come back and haul it away. You never touch the logistics. That part is on us.

For longer or higher-traffic bookings in Salt Lake City, we offer an on-site attendant who keeps the trailer stocked and spotless through the event, and we pump and refresh the unit so it holds up from the first guest to the last. That always-fresh standard is the difference between a restroom guests use once and one they are glad to use all night.

Plain arithmetic

Placement and access rules for portable restroom trailers on Salt Lake City events

A trailer on your own driveway or private lot for a short event usually needs no city permit. Events in city parks, on city parking lots, or in streets and sidewalks need a Salt Lake City special event permit, and that application goes through police, fire, public works, transportation and parks review. Anything placed in the public right of way needs a traffic control plan. Apply early if your restrooms will sit on public property, and tell us where the permit allows the trailer to go.

Waste rules come from the state. Utah Administrative Code R317-550 governs liquid waste haulers, and holding tank contents must go to a facility the regulator approves. We handle all pumping and disposal ourselves, so you never need to hire a separate hauler. Events that serve food work with the Salt Lake County Health Department on temporary food permits, and a trailer with running water and hand sinks makes their hand washing checklist easier to meet.

Job sites follow federal rules. Under 29 CFR 1926.51, a crew of 20 or fewer needs at least one toilet, and larger crews need more as the headcount grows. Some sites also carry special limits: the Cottonwood canyons are protected drinking water areas, so units working there run fully closed with everything hauled out, and badge controlled sites like the airport need service visits scheduled with security. We plan for these before delivery day. For events outside the city, see our luxury restroom trailer rentals across Utah.

A Lavatory 3-Station restroom trailer parked on a sidewalk edge beside a fenced lawn, with homes and mountains behind it

What we cover on ADA and siting

  • ADA-accessible units with a self-contained ramp, wide door, grab bars, and turning room.
  • Guidance on where to place the trailer so it is easy to reach and easy to service.
  • Water and power sorted before delivery, with a generator staged when the site has no hookup.
  • Licensed and insured on every unit we put on the road.

One thing we always say plainly: some venues and city permits have their own rules on placement, accessibility, and event restrooms. Tell us your venue and we will help you plan around them, but confirm any permit requirements with the venue or the city as well.

Deluxe bathroom trailers for garden, ranch and backyard receptions around Salt Lake City

A Lavatory restroom trailer behind long white reception tables set on a lawn, with evergreen trees and mountains beyond

Receptions in the Salt Lake Valley often run large, with extended family, neighbors and whole congregations on the guest list. Many of the loveliest settings, from a backyard in Federal Heights to a family property in Holladay or a garden venue on the east bench, were never built for 300 guests at once. Two small restrooms inside a home or a garden building turn into a long line by the second hour.

A deluxe bathroom trailer placed a short walk from the dance floor solves that without drawing attention. We set the 5-Station for most receptions of 200 to 350 guests, and we suggest the 8-Station Private Stall Deluxe when the couple wants every guest to have a private room with its own sink. The interiors have real mirrors, good lighting and climate control, so guests can freshen up before photos on a hot July evening or warm up on a cool October night.

Placement takes the most planning on the benches. East side streets have real grade and cars parked on both curbs, and many backyards sit above or below the street on retaining walls. We look at photos of the spot first, measure the path for the truck, and choose a unit length that fits. When the ground is soft lawn, we put boards under the jacks, and we level the trailer so the doors close properly.

We deliver the day before when the schedule allows, turn on the heat or air early, and check the unit again before guests arrive. The paper, soap and towels are loaded, and the trailer leaves the next day with the lawn left the way we found it.

Plainly put

How we plan luxury bathroom trailers for three kinds of Salt Lake City events

The 3-Station Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events

Typical setup: an office building after a water main break

When a building loses water service on a weekday, we place a 5-Station by the side entrance, run it on its onboard tanks, and set daily pumping until the city crew finishes the repair. Staff keep working, and the building stays open.

Typical setup: a backyard reception on the east bench

When a family hosts 250 guests on a sloped lot, we look for the firmest, flattest spot within a short walk of the tent. A 5-Station or an 8-Station Private Stall goes there with boards under the jacks. We deliver the day before and start the heat early on a cool evening.

Typical setup: a festival weekend at the Fairpark

When a festival fills the grounds for two or three days, we place clusters of trailers near the food and the stages, with a private unit behind the stage for performers. We pump and restock each night after the gates close.

Salt Lake City neighborhoods served by our temporary bathroom trailers

Two Lavatory 5-Station restroom trailers parked side by side on a green lawn with red flowering shrubs behind them

We deliver across all of Salt Lake City, from the Avenues and the East Bench to Rose Park and the northwest quadrant, and out to the rest of the Salt Lake Valley and Davis County. Our local yard keeps delivery times short on the Wasatch Front, and our crews run longer routes to Park City, Tooele and Utah County on a schedule we set with you. If your event is out of state, our luxury bathroom trailer rental fleet covers the rest of the West and beyond. Give us an address and a date, and we will confirm the delivery window.

We cover Salt Lake City luxury restroom trailer rentals across Utah. Neighborhoods and towns we serve include Downtown, Central City, The Avenues, Federal Heights, Capitol Hill, Sugar House, East Bench, Foothill, Yalecrest, 9th and 9th, Liberty Wells, Ballpark, Granary District, Rose Park, Fairpark, Glendale, Poplar Grove, South Salt Lake, West Valley City, Murray, Millcreek, Holladay, North Salt Lake, Bountiful.

Our statewide Utah restroom trailer service covers the regions this page does not name.

Downtown and Central City

Office towers, hotels, the Salt Palace and the arena district. Deliveries need tight timing and curb space, and anything in the street needs a city permit.

The Avenues and Federal Heights

Historic homes on steep streets above downtown. Backyard receptions are common, and shorter trailers fit the narrow streets best.

Sugar House

A busy neighborhood with Sugar House Park, shops and older homes. Park events, block parties and remodels all call for restrooms.

East Bench and Foothill

Higher, colder and snowier than the valley floor, with big lots and views. Winter placement and freeze planning matter most here.

Rose Park and Fairpark

West side neighborhoods near the Utah State Fairpark and the Jordan River. Festival grounds and community events need restrooms in volume.

Northwest quadrant

Wide, flat ground with warehouses, rail and very few buildings. Job sites here run self-contained, with water and pumping planned ahead.

Planned rentals are usually scheduled the same week, and we do our best to cover last-minute Salt Lake City dates when a trailer is nearby.

Common Salt Lake City questions on temporary restroom trailers

The 5-Station Restroom Trailer, available for Salt Lake City-area events
What affects the cost of a restroom trailer rental in Salt Lake City?

Five things drive the quote: the trailer size, how many days it stays, how far it travels from our yard, how often it needs pumping and restocking, and whether it needs a generator or an attendant. A one day reception on a flat driveway is simple. A two week job in a canyon with daily service takes more planning, and the quote shows each piece.

When do you restock and clean the trailer during an event?

For a one day event we stock the trailer fully before guests arrive, and most receptions never need more. For multi-day festivals we pump and restock after the gates close each night. For large events we can add an attendant who keeps the rooms tidy and the supplies full while guests are there.

How do your trailers handle a Salt Lake City winter and a July heat wave?

Every unit has both heat and air conditioning on a thermostat. In winter the rooms stay above freezing overnight, and we protect the outside pieces by insulating or skipping the site hose and running the unit on its own tanks during hard freezes. In July we turn on the air early so the rooms are cool before guests walk in.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval for a restroom trailer at my home?

On your own property for a short event, you usually do not need a city permit. Some HOAs have rules about trailers in driveways, so check your covenants. Events in city parks, on city lots or in the street need a Salt Lake City special event permit, and we can place the trailer wherever that permit allows.

Will guests notice a difference between your trailer and a porta potty?

Right away. A porta potty is a plastic box with a chemical tank and no running water. Our trailers have flushing china toilets, sinks with running water, mirrors, lighting, and heat and air, with separate women’s and men’s rooms. Guests walk out feeling like they used a restroom inside a nice building.

Can I rent a restroom trailer for a long construction or remodel project?

Yes. We rent by the week or by the month for remodels, campus projects and job sites. We set a pumping and restocking schedule that fits the crew size, and the trailer stays in place until the work is done.

Is it smart to book early for a summer reception in Salt Lake City?

Yes. Saturdays from May through September book up first, and the Days of ’47 week in July and the Utah State Fair in September keep many trailers busy. Reserve as soon as you have a date and a rough guest count. We can adjust the size later if your list grows.

Where should multiple trailers go at a large festival?

Spread them out. We place clusters near the food, the main stage and the entrances so lines split between them, with an accessible unit in each cluster. A separate private unit behind the stage keeps performers and crews out of the public lines.

Can you deliver a trailer to the Avenues or other steep streets?

Yes, with the right unit. Streets in the Avenues and on the benches are steep and narrow, with cars on both curbs. We look at photos first and often send a shorter trailer that fits the street and the driveway.

Do you serve the rest of the Salt Lake Valley and Davis County?

Yes. We deliver to South Salt Lake, West Valley City, Murray, Millcreek, Holladay, Sandy, Draper, North Salt Lake, Bountiful and the rest of the valley, plus Park City and Utah County on a set schedule.

What happens if a building loses water on a weekend?

Call our 24/7 line. We confirm the site, choose the unit and send it as soon as a truck and trailer are ready. The trailer runs on its own tanks, so it works even when the building’s water is off.

How to plan restrooms before a water main break or sewer backup

Most buildings never plan for losing their restrooms, and it shows on the day it happens. One broken main under the street can shut down every restroom in a building within minutes. Offices, schools, churches and restaurants then face a hard choice between closing and scrambling for a fix.

Salt Lake City winters make this more likely. Freeze and thaw cycles stress older mains on the east side, and a cold snap can crack a supply line in an unheated part of a building. Spring runoff and heavy storms can back up sewer lines too.

Salt Lake City Corporation

Choosing a restroom trailer spot on a sloped east bench lot

Bench lots are beautiful for receptions, and they are hard on trailers. The east side of Salt Lake City climbs from the valley floor toward the Wasatch, and many backyards sit above or below the street on retaining walls.

Look for firm, level ground first. A paved driveway or a flat gravel pad is ideal. Lawn works when it is dry, and we put boards under the jacks when it is soft. Avoid spots over sprinkler lines or septic parts.

Restroom planning for a festival or concert at the Fairpark or downtown

Big events in Salt Lake City draw big crowds, and restroom lines are one of the first things guests remember. The Utah State Fair runs for 11 days each September at the Utah State Fairpark, and summer brings festivals, parades and concerts to downtown streets and parks.

Size for the peak, not the average. The biggest rush comes right after a headliner ends or during intermission. Plan enough stations to keep lines short at that moment, and add trailers when alcohol is served.

29 CFR 1926.51 sanitation standard (Cornell LII)

Hookups or onboard tanks: how water and waste work on a Salt Lake City site

People often ask whether they need a water hookup for a luxury restroom trailer. The short answer is no. Every trailer carries its own fresh water tank and a large waste tank, so it can run anywhere.

Hookups help on long rentals. If a hose bib is nearby, we can connect it so the fresh tank stays full. On a job that runs for weeks, that cuts down on water deliveries.
